The not so secret guide to success

Before venturing into the question of what drives success, raise a thought of what it is that YOU want to achieve. There may be exceptions but it is a common fact that to be successful you must first have a goal that you want to reach. In defining your goal, learn to be specific and have a time frame in mind, in which you should reach your goal.

Many of us find ourselves in motivational slumps that we have to work to get out of. Sometimes it’s like a continuous cycle where we are motivated for a period of time, fall out and then have to build things back up again.

There is nothing more powerful for self-motivation than the right attitude. You can’t choose or control your circumstance but can choose your attitude towards your circumstances.

No one can motivate anyone to do anything. All a person can do for another is provide them with incentives to motivate themselves. Here are some very effective approaches to help you get up and get moving toward actualizing your enormous, untapped potential.

a. Be prepared to leave your comfort zone. The greatest barrier to achieving your
potential is your comfort zone. Great things happen when you make friends with your discomfort zone. It goes in line of the philosophy of eliminating your weakness, which by it’s definition makes you stronger.

b. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Wisdom helps us avoid making mistakes and comes from making a million of them. This was the attitude of the inventor of the light bulb; Thomas Edison when he was asked why it took him thousands of attempts to perfect the bulb, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
Don’t indulge in self-limiting thinking. Think empowering, expansive thoughts. Daring to dream big allows your mind to open up and makes it easier to reach your dream. Your imagination is your tool to color your own world as you see fit.

c. Choose to be happy. It is a proven fact that happy people are much more easily motivated.

d. Spend at least one hour a day in self-development. Read good books or listen to inspiring lectures from people who have made themselves successful.

e. Learn to finish what you start. So many of us become disseminated as we try to accomplish a task. Finish a task before you begin another.

f. Live fully in the present moment. When you live in the past or the future you aren’t able to make the most of the opportunities that open up to you in the present.
Never quit when you experience a setback or frustration. Success could be just around the corner.

g. Dare to dream big dreams. If there is anything to the law of expectation then we are moving in the direction of our dreams, goals and expectations.

h. The real tragedy in life is not in how much we suffer, but rather in how much we
miss, so don’t miss a thing.

i. Once you discipline yourself to a certain degree you will gradually develop certain skills that become motivational habits.

j. When you get to the stage where you are regularly helping others keep motivated – be it with a blog or talking with peers – you’ll find the cycle continuing where each facet of staying motivated is refined and developed.

After you get started on something, you’ll almost always just get into it and keep going. There will be times when you have to do things you really don’t want to: that’s where the other steps and tips from other writers come in handy.

However, the most important thing, that I think is worth repeating, is to just get started. Get that momentum going and then when you need to Take A Break. No one wants to work all the time!

I will finish of with a quote from the author Napoleon Hill; Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.
