Detune formed in 2003 from a 3-piece acoustic band with just 2 guitarist and a percussionist, had expanded into a full-fledged 5-piece band gave them the opportunity to perform; thus building a more diverse portfolio. All members are geared with professional certifications by renowned institution, Berklee Music College. Often commended by many for being the most hardworking and disciplined band in the Maldives, Detune is forward looking band that improves themselves by constantly expanding their repertoire.
Detune first album “One Down” has been launched on the 5th of April 2014. Album has been released at Aoili Restaurant in a press conference for the media by detune band producer Mr Thys Huang.
The name of the album One down or Sunkedun is referred to as their first album and there will be more to come in the future.
One down album consists of 6 songs, 4 songs in Dhivehi and 2 songs in English Written and composed by detune 5 members Based on life inspiring and true incidents of Detune’s journey of 8 years being together. Talking of detunes music it’s a big mixture of all genres One down music is their unique own sound of detune and it’s their audience who will categorize it to which genre. Among the album the song “Nashaala” has been the most listeners favourite and in very nearby future detune is going to bring their first video song for Nashaala.
As detune gigs throughout the year the album was recorded in 2012 July in Colombo during one-month break. This was entirely a new experience for Detune band to be open to this world as musicians, which lead to a lot of musical knowledge and growth of their musical journey.
In March 2013 detune took the album to Singapore for mixing and mastering to one of the leading Music studios called DreamBox Studio. This opportunity lead to a turning point to detune as the owner of DreamBox studio Mr Thys Huang offered the album to be produced by Him.
The album has been produced under the license of DREAMBOX MUSIC PTE LTD and every song has been registered under DREAMBOX MUSIC PUBLISHING PTE.LTD.
At recent the album is available at Jazz Café and in May we plan to keep in few more outlets in the capital Male’. The Cd is already selling in our regular platforms like in One and Only Reethi Rah, Baros Maldives and also in Anantara Kihavah.
