Dear Readers,
Let me first extend the warmest greetings of Ramadan to all our readers celebrating the holy month. The team at VIBE and myself hope this issue will be enjoyable, informative and most of all, inspiring. We certainly enjoyed creating this installment and we’re extremely inspired by the featured creative individuals.
Honoring VIBE’s fifteenth cover is one such personality : Faizan, he is not only one of the most brilliant drummers that our country has seen, but is also one who has gained international recognition for playing a very rare and unique instrument. He shares his childhood nostalgia and humble journey to stardom, with us.
We also sat down with Irufan, most know him as a Maldivian Idol finalist, but his love for music and singing began at a young age. He reveals the struggles that shaped him into who he his today, what inspires and motivates him.
The small archipelago which we call home is barely diminutive, in terms of talent and skill. We are blessed in abundance with many creative individuals; who do not just create, but also take the extra mile to make a positive impact in others lives. Fashion designer Vilee, is doing exactly that – using her sartorial talents to empower women. At a time, when the world, and especially the fashion world is addressing issues on inclusivity of race, size, gender and age; Vilee’s designs for curvier women put her in the list of local designers who are dedicated in focusing on a less addressed necessity.
The month of Ramadan is undoubtedly an eventful one – besides the daily prayers and giving back to the community, your evenings would be packed with gatherings of family, friends and colleagues. Our ‘Looks’ section serves you with outfit inspiration to ace the soirées or any occasion.
Since Ramadan is synonymous with the joy of indulging in good food with your closest; we have special recipes laid out for you by Nicolas Descriaux, the Executive Pastry Chef from Kuramathi Maldives. We hope you would give his delectable recipes a try.
